Q: How flexible is BusyBeesNYC? Courses usually run for ‘semesters’ or around 10-12 weeks and then new sessions begin. How will BusyBeesNYC help me to manage through changing semesters and/or my child’s shifting naps and/or interests. Will BusyBeesNYC create a ‘new calendar’ to reflect changing sessions?
We at BusyBeesNYC know how important flexibility is - especially when you have kids. So, we are flexible, since we know that with kids, things are always in motion. The goal of BusyBeesNYC is to make your life easier. Which means we will do everything in our power to make the ‘transition’ between kiddie semesters or shifting schedules easier. You can count on us to give you advance notice about new semester dates and classes that might be interesting to you. And, of course, before proposing something to you, we will make sure there is still space in the class (since we all now how quickly these classes do fill up). All you have to do is actually register your child. Most courses have similar session dates (spring, summer, fall, winter). As your class session winds done, BusyBeesNYC will send you a reminder regarding upcoming registration options for a session at either a same location or a different nearby location. Based on what course(s) you decide to register for, your child’s calendar will be updated to reflect the details of the new session.Similarly, as your child’s schecdule might change over time, BusyBeesNYC will work with you. As new semesters begin, Busy BeesNYC can work with you to find classes that best suit your child’s new schedule or interests.
Q: What happens if I register with BusyBeesNYC in the middle of a standard class ‘semester’ - for instance, in the middle of the spring semester? Can BusyBees still help me?
Of course. BusyBees will work with you to find the right customized solution. While some courses are not open to accepting new enrollees in the middle of the session, there are other that will and BusyBees has scoured the area and found them. As well, there are drop in classes, events sponsored by local stores and lots of other fun options to take advantage of until official class ‘sessions’ begin again. And, BusyBees can help you navigate all of those options. And, make sure that you register -in advance- for your top choice courses for the upcoming semester.
Q: BusyBeesNYC seems to provide really interactive and personalized services. How is this done?
BusyBeesNYC has created tools to help us get an accurate sense of who you and your child are and what you like. We want to spend time (not a lot, don’t worry) talking with you about what is important to you for your child, what your child likes/dislike, even how far your nanny is willing to walk. All of this exchange of information, allows for a truly customized end product. Consider us the kid version of ‘e-harmony’: we have created the knowledge base and have the tools to match you (and your child, of course) to the right activities. We expect , and will settle for, nothing less than the perfect match.
Q: What other things does membership offer?
Printed calendar, Blog, Email updates,Organizational strategies; bundle of details and ‘to dos’ or ‘tips’ and reminders to make your child’s experience all it can be.
Q: How will BusyBees keep in touch with me? How will I get my calendar once it is ready?
At the beginning, we will talk. We find that is the best way to really a deep understand of you and your child. Once your child’s customized program is ready, we will put it up on Cozi — this great web based service which will give you access to your child’s calendar from virtually anywhere. Setting up an account on Cozi is ultra simple (and free) and BusyBeesNYC can walk you through the process. The wonderful thing about Cozi is that whether you are at work, at home, or on the road - as long as you have internet access, you can know exactly where your child is supposed to be. And, the calendars from Cozi bring beautifully –so you can leave a fresh one with your sitter every week.
Q: How long is membership?
Membership is for one (1) full year from the date of registration.
Q: How does BusyBees know the classes or activities are going to be good?
We, the parents behind BusyBeesNYC, have two children of our own. We have scoured the city for the best of the bundle and, ourselfves, have ‘tested’ a ton of classes and a ton of locations. And, BusyBeesNYC talks a lot with other parents - so we have the latest ‘buzz’ if you know what I mean. BusyBeesNYC will only recommend locations or play spaces with which we have, personally, had some experience. If you’re looking for something we haven’t tried, we will find it for you and let you know what we think. So, while we may not have first hand experiences with the “Cooking with Carol” class that you are interested in, we would have had experience with the play space or location where the class is being held. Maybe we experienced a “Baby Yoga” class at the same location or maybe we did a trial class at the location. So, we have enough experience to say (1) the registration process is easy (2) the staff at the location is helpful, (3) the classes or playrooms are generally clean and appear to be well maintained, and, most importantly, (4) the children attending classes at the location seem to be having a ton of fun.
Q: Why does BusyBees only offer the planning recommendation for the Murray Hill/Kip’s Bay/Gramercy Park/Union Square/Chelsea area?
Honestly, there are two good reasons.
(1) We only want to recommend locations with which we have experience - to make sure the location is the right one for you We know this neighborhood the best and we feel like we can point you to where the ‘fit’ would be best for you and your child. And,
(2) We strongly believe in community. Specializing our service to this neighborhood makes it much more likely for you, your child, and caretaker to develop parent, nanny, and child friends that will last a long time. As we have witnesses from our own children, the stimulation this communal network provides in invaluable. So, our service is structured to allow you to take advantages of as much that is “local” in very Big Apple that is possible.
